The socket for hafting has two symmetrical holes used to secure the spearhead to a wooden shaft and is decorated with impressed dots.
The spearhead belongs to a group of artifacts found at Agliastroso, an area located just outside Amendolara, where the necropolis of the community settled near the present-day Rione Vecchio was probably located. Since this was an accidental discovery and the necropolis has never been investigated through systematic excavations, it is not possible to obtain further details about the funerary assemblage or the individual to whom it belonged. In general, spearheads of this type spread among the indigenous communities of Calabria around 1000 BC; their introduction marks a significant change in military equipment, with the spear replacing the long sword as the primary weapon.
