In the absence of the upper part, the original function cannot be determined with certainty; however, the object can be interpreted either as a thymiaterion (incense burner) or as a lamp stand, intended to support lighting devices or objects connected with domestic ritual practices.
The artifact was found within the atrium of Domus CRr, a space used for reception and circulation, where the presence of functional and symbolic furnishings is entirely consistent. Its location in this area suggests a use connected both with everyday domestic life and with ritual or symbolic actions carried out in one of the central spaces of the house.
